Day One!

This afternoon I had my braces fitted! I originally was only going to have my top teeth fixed and an Essix retainer for my lower teeth..but I changed my mind last minute and got the bottoms done too! It was only slightly more price wise and I knew I'd regret not getting it all done at the same time.
I chose clear brackets for the front six teeth on top, and metal for the rest. The clear brackets are actually larger than the metal ones but I remember how dark the metal made my mouth when I had both sets a few years ago. Here are my teeth before and after bracing! My estimated treatment time is 9 - 12 months so I really hope to see progress quite quickly this time around!

A brief overview of my case:
Age 16 I wore metal braces top and bottom for about 18 months. I have an underbite so my bottom teeth were slanted backwards and my top teeth were straightened to correct my bite. I had four bicuspid extractions. Shortly after my braces were removed, I lost my retainers and in the time it took for me to save for a replacement pair (about two weeks) my teeth had already slipped back into their original shape, not as badly but they were crossed at the front! My new set of retainers were made for my new/slipped teeth which was so disappointing and I guess over time I gave up wearing them completely. I'm now 24 and its long overdue to have them corrected for good, I know first hand the importance of wearing those retainers!
